GoDaddy Sucks

GoDaddy Sucks. Why?

1. When you want to buy a single product, GoDaddy will keep pushing lot more products and confuse you. The check out is not a quick process.

2. Google “GoDaddy Problem“. There are so many GoDaddy specific problems.

3. GoDaddy doesn’t have the popular and familiar cpanel interface. The domain management interface, hosting management interface are all outdated, cluttered, not user-friendly at all. Since it has a uniquely useless interface, you will waste lot of time figuring out how to do things and finding the buttons.

4. If you want to move a domain registered with GoDaddy, you have to do 60 days before the domain expires. Else, it will lock the domain with them for another year. Considering how users think of moving only at the last minute, they will be trapped.

5. While most of the top web hosts offer unlimited web hosting space for around 6 US dollars a month, GoDaddy charges 13 USD.

6. No Fantastico / simple scripts to easily install software like WordPress. The alternative solution GoDaddy offers is horrible and slow.

7. GoDaddy doesn’t warn you before reaching the bandwidth limit. Instead I get a notice that I am going to be charged for extra bandwidth that I unknowingly consumed. If they had given a prior warning, I would have taken care. They are charging as high as 2 USD per 1 GB extra bandwidth which is atrocious. Nothing less than looting you. And before I could change a valid payment info, they are threatening me to wipe down all my sites. How dare! That too, I still have 2 years of hosting money paid in advance !

8. No easy and comprehensive way to track stats.

9. GoDaddy will lure with you lot of features which you will discover that they are individually priced.

10. GoDaddy seems to offer a slightly lesser prize for hosting. But, you will have to pay for 4 years, while companies like bluehost ask to pay for 2 years only . Once you are in, it’s a hard decision to move out before this 4 years time.

11. Once I got a email notice that there seems to be a phishing attempt from my site and it will suspend my site in a day If I don’t respond. How am I suppose to respond within such a short period? How if I was in a vacation?

12. Thinking they make it more safe, GoDaddy has made password recovery frustrating. They keep logging out automatically in short sessions. I want it to trust me more and make things easy.

This list will grow more as I continue to suffer.

Right now, the only thing pretty about GoDaddy is the girl they show in their homepage 🙂 Don’t get fooled !!

GoDaddy sucks.

  3. Dear Ravi,

Have you try to address your concerns with Godaddy? is there any response.

Anyhow, these will be serving as fore-warnings for Godaddy users…

  4. Hi Nambi, GoDaddy’s response to our site specific problems and general FAQ is OK. But general complaints and feature requests aren’t addressed well.

  5. I know about this godaddy people, very cheap!!!

I transferred even my domain to NameCheap. Godaddy help desk will take ages to reply your queries 🙁 and will make big fuzz when you wanna move your domain out of GoDaddy.

In my site, time to time I get Godaddy video adz with that girl, whipping off the glass 😛

  6. no question. godaddy is 100% sux.

  7. I dumped Godaddy for web hosting several years ago. I think they spent all their money on advertising and forgot to invest in fast reliable web servers. Their FTP is so slow it took me forever to connect to my website.

I have been hosting with Mckremie.com for over a year now and I’m very happy with them. My FTP is fast their support is great the best switch I ever made.

  8. I signed up for GoDaddy premium 3 days ago. Since then, I have been plagued from all kinds of problems. Firstly, they took many hours to activate a few subdomains. When asked further, they told me it ‘could take up to 24 hours’. There are free web hosts that let you add subdomains instantly or less than five minutes! Secondly, I had to spend many hours trying to install applications using their ‘Hosting Connection’ service. I had to install, then after installation failed, install again, fail again, install again. What is wrong with GoDaddy?! When I emailed their customer support, they only got back to me after 7 hours. Other webhosts are cheaper, and have live chat support. Browsing both Godaddy and my sites hosted on Godaddy is very slow as well. Besides that, when I tried to register others domains, I kept getting the error message saying that the session has expired. Still the same after clearing all browsing history, cookies, etc and even restarting the computer and reinstalling Firefox, Internet explorer. Deceptive advertising.

It claims to support some functions but later tells you that you need to pay for it. It claims some bandwidth and space to be unlimited, but then secretly charge your credit card with the stealth of a ninja when you exceed their ‘limits’. GoDaddy is a joke. They should spend more money on support staff rather than on Superbowl commercials. Otherwise, all the commercials in the world won’t do them any good as customers like me flock to Bluehost, Hostgator, Namecheap and practically ever other host better than GoDaddy. Support is almost non-existant on Godaddy, something they should emphasize to all users, especially new ones. They will never ever admit they did anything wrong, as it is always your fault. They also have no money back guarantee or any other protection for customers. Customers are treated like dirt. Phone support? Rude customer service and expensive to call them from outside the US. What’s worse is when you try to move to another host. Extortion at its best. Don’t even get me started on their Domain Registration Protection. They will reveal all your personal information to anyone asking for it for any reason at all. Oh my god. They charge for everything, know nothing about managing hosting servers. Their administrative control panel sucks. One day it display as 2 domains, one day 4 domains, the other day 3 domains. Their control panel is a pain to use. I have a diploma in computer science and even I get confused using it. I have been developing websites for the last decade and thought I would give GoDaddy a shot. Big mistake. They don’t have cPanel. They don’t have many apps as a install option. Why the hell did I ever sign up for Godaddy? God bless me. They store your credit card information. All of it. And they bill you anytime they like. Fines are deducted without any warning. Even the police give you a warning before fines. Godaddy is the biggest crook/thief/looter on the internet.

Everyone should know about this. I wished I had. Godaddy really does not care about its customers. People who support GoDaddy have not seen their dark side yet. Godaddy thinks it can screw with its customers because they will have hundreds more signing up every minute. To all new customers considering GoDaddy: Don’t. You will be making the biggest mistake of your life. Take my word for it, and if you don’t, don’t say nobody told you.

I have about 40 domains with godaddy ultimate hosting account and … this plan is a shame!
Here is a list of problems with this registrar:
    – page loading is very slow
    – regularly error 404 not found
    – regularly error 500 int serv error
    – ftp connection w/ filezilla or other software return error 503
    – assistance is unusable and will not solve your problem

Next time I’ll think before giving my money to these gentlemens
