Adsense for Indic language websites

I tried Adsense for my Tamil blog and the result is a disaster :) I had thousands of impressions and only one click worth 1 cent !! It mostly showed public service ads or irrelevant links or went blank.

What publishers can do:

* Even if your content is non-English, name your domain relevantly in English. The ads do match the domain name when the content is not English.

* Try giving tags, categories, post titles, post summary in English. This can be only done while annoying the intended native audience.

Have you tried Adsense for an Indic language website and found it useful? Please share your tips here.

    Dear Ravi,
I have been using AdSense for over 3 years on my blogger blogs and self-hosted site. In the first year I did not have much success, because I think, I did not have much content. Now I get about $200 per month though my combined traffic is around 5000 impressions only. I think you do not get good response because of lack of people opting for AdWords in Tamil, and mostly your Tamil blog is India-targeted, with a few readers from abroad.

I agree with you that using titles and keywords/tags can improve AdSense earnings, but not as much as English sites and blogs. Again to get good rates per keywords, you have to have viewers from countries who spend more on ads. That too you get good rates only when they appear in countries like USA.

This is my observation for the last three years. I could not improve upon my income or traffic because I am a hobby blogger and have not invested on getting traffic. I may do so in the future.
    Thanks

HI Krishna, can’t agree more with your comments. I have also never built a adsense focussed blog. My income has also been from a English blog only.
