WordPress Troubleshooting Steps

I have a really weird problem, and as usual posting to the Wordpress forums doesn’t result in an answer. Very frustrating.

I have two blogs using the same template. On one, when I click on the Archives by month in the sidebar, the archive pages show fine. On the other, when IO hover the link shows correctly, but it always displays the home page, not the archive page. I can display by Category, but not by Month.

For the life of me I can’t figure it out. I fiddled with the template, but on the one that DOES work. I compared both template files, can’t see any difference.

Any thoughts? Is it likely to be a template error or a widget/setting? Is there a way to debug Wordpress?
